Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.

The highlight of the program is the discussion of the 9-foot, 2,400-pound bronze sculpture Harriet Tubman: Journey to Freedom by internationally recognized artist Wesley Wofford. This is a traveling exhibition celebrating Harriet’s achievements and sharing her vision of hope for the future which will be visiting Rockland!
